2021/2022 HIPAA, Data Security and Confidentiality


Description
This training will take approximately one hour to complete.

This training defines security standards for protecting confidential information collected and maintained by the TB/HIV/STD and Viral Hepatitis Section associated with surveillance, epidemiology, public health follow-up, the Texas Medication Program and any other confidential information within the Section.

Upon completion of this training you will be able to identify the following:

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Administrative, physical and technical safeguards for the security of confidential information

Know the difference between privacy incidents, protocol violations and violations of confidentiality

Physical security guidelines

Roles and responsibilities of the Local Responsible Party (LRP) and the Overall Responsible Party (ORP)

To fulfill requirements of the course:

1.Print a copy of your test results for your record. Close the test results file and click to the next page.

2.Once you have completed the course, you will be able to print your certificate. Follow the instructions on the certificate for renewing annual security training or requesting access to secure databases. Complete instructions can be found at: https://www.dshs.state.tx.us/thsvh/account.shtm
